I need a unique gift idea for my Sisters Baby.I am the Godparent and she is getting Baptized next month!?

I really want it to be something special that she can keep forever! I have looked online, and there is a lot there, but nothing that jumps out at me. I am hoping someone has gotten a gift like this, or has an idea and can tell me what it is?? Thanks!

Well the baby isn’t going to really care at this point. So why don’t you just give the child your love and help her learn her prayers and about God. As she gets older you can get her something uniquely hers. You might even wait for First Communion Day. But I think Angel statues are always unique I have had mine since I was little never had a home without them.

One nice thing to give would be a gift bible. There’s a beautiful one you can get from most Christian bookstores that has the Precious Moments kids in it with spaces to write all of the important highlights of the child’s life in it.
You don’t mention what denomination your family is. If Catholic, an heirloom quality rosary would be extremely appropriate. If some other denomination, how about a pretty nursery cross for the baby’s wall? These are keepsakes that the child can keep and pass on someday to her own baby.

Go to a store that sews blankets and have them sew a picture of the baby on it or even a poem made up by you . Have them put the baby’s name and yours name date and year the baby was born . GOOD LUCK !!!!

The godparents of our son gave us a Tiffany rattle with his initals engraved in it. It is so sweet! And, something he’ll have forever. It’s not cheap but definately worth the extra bucks. We’ve even done the same for another friend since then.

All the answers I have read are good answers but the one that stuck out the most would be “me777″’s. The blanket thing is a good idea, but maybe instead of a picture being sewn onto it, or having a “store” do it, (no I ain’t going to suggest that YOU sew it) ask some of your CLOSEST friends if maybe their mom or grandmother, aunt or sister does this sort of thing…… make blankets. Ask if they’d be willing to custom make a blanket that you could help design for your Godchild. . . for this lovely event. . . for an heirloom. If it’s someone that is close to you. . . well, that in it’s self is symbolic and makes it that much more dear to you, the child and the family. In addition to the blanket perhaps you might like to add a piece of jewelry like a baby’s ring made from 24k gold or a small bracelet with an engraving on it. Both items can be the start of something that it’s receiver can pass on to their own child.
Be sure to mark this event and celebrate it annually. (even if it’s something that’s kept just between you and your Godchild) By baptism we confess our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and testify of our death to sin and of our purpose to walk in newness of life. Thus we acknowledge Christ as Lord and Saviour, become His people, and are received as members by His church. Baptism is a symbol of our union with Christ, the forgiveness of our sins, and our reception of the Holy Spirit. It is by immersion in water and is contingent on an affirmation of faith in Jesus and evidence of repentance of sin. It follows instruction in the Holy Scriptures and acceptance of their teachings. Baptism is only performed once, but has a symbolic meaning which is repeatedly recalled or remembered. Baptism stands for all of life’s transitions, and is recalled by Christians in connection with all the changes in life’s way, and also annually around the time of Easter, as the individual Christian’s connection with the Passion of the Lamb: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
So as I mentioned earlier, be sure to remember this date and mark it for celebration. Be sure to teach from your heart as well as from the Book and know how special you are to have been chosen to be this child’s Godparent. Without doubt, you are feeling very honored!! Go Nuts!
P.S. If you think it wouldn’t be inappropriate….. just to be silly….. you could give a very tiny pair of swim goggles and a snorkel tube. In white of course.

Well why dont you get her a really nice necklace with a cross on it that she can wear always to remember you. Her mom can put it up for her till she is a bit older, and for now maybe give her an angel to put in her room/nursery. Both of these gifts are special, or if she is Catholic maybe get her her first rosary.

My sis in law went ahead and set up a huge registry, brib and all for her baby shower and before we even recieved our invitations all the items were purchased by co-workers (shes in VA and were in NY). We decided to g with memorable gifts. Our kids are getting first tooth and first curl cups for her. I am cross stitching a blanket, and my husband is building a toybox. Great Grandma is givng a bible and starting a bank account. Be creative, think about things you remember from your childhood.
